Built around the learner
Close Protection Academy delivers recognised SIA licence training, Close Protection courses, Door Supervisor and CCTV training, first aid qualifications, FREC 3 and specialist courses — with a strong emphasis on practical, industry-relevant learning.
From the outset, the aim was to create a training provider that went beyond simply gaining a qualification, with experienced industry instructors combining high-quality teaching, operational experience, practical exercises and realistic scenarios in a supportive environment.
A permanent home in Brentwood
In autumn 2026, Close Protection Academy moved to its permanent security training centre in Brentwood, Essex. Located just a short walk from Brentwood Station, the centre provides dedicated classroom, medical, physical intervention and practical training areas.
It also offers space for Close Protection vehicle drills, foot drills and scenario-based exercises — combining classroom learning with realistic practical security training from one location.
From Stratford to a permanent home

The Academy is founded
Nick Player and Jill Robertson launch Close Protection Academy from a training centre in Stratford, East London — with a mission to deliver training that goes beyond the qualification.
Operations strengthen
Caroline Sullivan joins as Operations Director, bringing further experience in close protection, surveillance and security operations. The Academy expands its range of qualifications and develops its own specialist courses.

Close Protection Academy moves to its dedicated facility in Brentwood, Essex — combining classroom, medical, physical intervention and scenario-based training under one roof.
